Tried to Install Linux on i-RAM again
I've been waiting for any Linux distribution with the Linux kernel 2.6.18 after I've noticed the patch for Gigabyte i-RAM. Fedora Core 6 finally ships with the Linux kernel 2.6.18 but I wasn't able to detect the i-RAM during installation. And I was getting DVD reading error on FC6 LiveCD. I've burn check the hash and burn it twice with data confirmation option on but still had no luck. Thought my DVD burner finally gone bad. But all the diagnostic indicated otherwise.
Today I'm trying OpenSUSE. It detected i-RAM during installation. I was able to make partitions. But that's where problems began. It gave me error during boot installation. Tried Lilo even installing on floppy. It gave me same error message and automatically finished the installation.
Went to rescue mode. And tried to make boot floppy disk:
mount /dev/sdd2 /mntBut when I boot it from flooppy, it gave me error message on hard drive. I'm too tired to try again. I'm just goint to blame i-RAM for now and waiting for i-RAM version 2 this year.
mount -o bind /dev /mnt/dev
chroot /mnt
dd if=/boot/grub/stage1 of=/dev/fd0 bs=512 count=1
dd if=/boot/grub/stage2 of=/dev/fd0 bs=512 seek=1
grub-install --recheck /dev/fd0
